About our family and our philosophy
ChucklePuff farms is run by the Beckmann family. We (Pauli and Dom Beckmann) have been living in Columbus, MN since 2015 and have since been joined by four kiddos (Jeff, Vini, Izzy, and Rosie). We both have backgrounds in science, and we met working in the lab at the University of MN. Our love for science, genetics, animals, and learning new things made farming and breeding a natural transition for us. We have fostered our love of animals and our values of hard work and family in our children. We continue to learn every day about this life we are building together.
Our philosophy for all of our breeding is to breed to their breed standard, with particular focus on aspects that directly relate to function and health. In addition, we only breed animals with exceptional temperament who are truly ambassadors for their breed. We have learned first hand how much stress and anxiety can come from an aggressive or unfriendly animal. While each of our species has a specific focus be it milk production, structure, speed, biddability, at the end of the day we come back to our fundamentals of producing healthy, friendly, well-rounded animals who come well-loved from our family to yours. We truly are excited to welcome you into the ChucklePuff family.
What is the deal with our weird name? What is a ChucklePuff anyway?
Charlie, Chuckles, Charles, ChucklePuff was our first animal to have together. He was my (Pauli’s) first dog and it was his behavioral challenges that brought me initially into being a dog trainer while I was in my PhD program. He showed me the importance of being a strong packer leader, consistency, structure, and building a positive relationship with your dog. He has also shown me what it means to give yourself completely to something and how much responsibility it truly is to have a dog who is willing and ready to protect you with his life. Charlie is at the end of his life now, but he continues to inspire us every day to be better.
Our Location
We have a small hobby farm in Columbus, MN. We have a very convenient location, just 30 min north of the metro area and 3 miles from 35.
