ALL ABOUT OUR GOATS
Thank you for your interest in our goats!!! We strive to raise healthy, correct goats with strong dairy production and excellent temperaments. We initially got into goats after taking a buckthorn management course. We got two does in 2023 and well, our population has greatly expanded. We quickly realized that these animals were cuddly, fun, and hilarious, but also extremely useful! We have loved having fresh milk in the house and have developed a recipe for a crazy good goat Greek yogurt! Seriously, you have to try it. I have included some FAQs below, as well as some links to our other goat pages. Please have a look around and connect with us with any questions.
What kind of goats do you guys have?
At ChucklePuff Farms, we focus on Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats. Nigerian Dwarfs are a wonderful choice for any homestead. Here are a few reasons to consider adding them to your family:
1. High-Quality Milk: Their milk is rich and creamy, ideal for making yogurt and cheese! Our kids love the milk straight, but they especially love it in our homemade yogurt and ice creams.
2. Compact Size: Perfect for smaller farms or backyards, they don’t take up much space or need a huge barn. Also, their smaller size makes them easier for the kids (and everyone else really…) to handle.
3. Friendly Disposition: Their gentle nature makes them easy to handle.
4. Low Maintenance: They have simple dietary and housing needs, ideal for beginners.
5. Fertility: They reproduce well, supporting a sustainable dairy setup.
6. Colors: Nigerian Dwarfs are known for their numerous and exciting color pattern varieties.
Do you have any goats available?
We often have goats available for purchase. Take a look at our available goat page to see if there are any you can't live without 🙂
Do you do health testing on your herd?
Yes, we do annual biosecurity testing on all goats in our herd. This includes PCR testing for CAE, CL, and Johne's. We only purchase goats from other clean-tested herds and always do a 30 day quarantine period with a negative test for each new goat. We have never had a positive test in our herd and aim to keep up this record.
Do you do performance programs with your herd?
Yes. In 2026 we are participating in milk testing and linear appraisal. We use the milk testing to track the production of our does, and the linear appraisal program to evaluate their physical conformation. We also hope to attend a few local shoes this year and get our goats in the ring!
